This article discusses the ethical implications of a rapidly growing subcategory of Artificial Intelligence: Emotion AI. Emotion AI uses machine learning in order to track and make predictions of human emotions. While it enhances human and computer interaction, its capabilities are limitless. This makes it very important that the AI technology used must be considered very carefully. This requires that the ethics and empathy are a guiding philosophy for those who are designing and implementing such technology and that they are aware of the moral implications of using emotion AI.

“Artificial Intelligence is revolutionising the way we live and work, and offering extraordinary benefits for our societies and economies. Yet, it raises new challenges and is also fuelling anxieties and ethical concerns. This puts the onus on governments to ensure that AI systems are designed in a way that respects our values and laws, so people can trust that their safety and privacy will be paramount,” said OECD Secretary-General Angel Gurría at the OECD ́s Annual Ministerial Council Meeting held 22-23 May 2019. “These Principles will be a global reference point for trustworthy AI so that we can harness its opportunities in a way that delivers the best outcomes for all.” Feelenials was born in Colombia, a member state of the OECD countries and thus hold to high regards the principles mentioned in the meeting. The following are the OECD AI Principles:

1. AI should be for the benefit of people and the planet by fostering inclusive growth, sustainable development and well-being

2. AI systems should be created in a way that respects the rule of law, human rights, diversity and democracy.

3. AI systems should be transparent and allow for responsible disclosure ensuring that people understand it’s outcomes and are able to challenge them.

4. The functions of AI should be robust, secure and safe throughout their life cycles and potential risks are continuously assessed and managed.

5. Organizations and individuals that develop, deploy and operate AI systems shall be held responsible for the proper functioning in line with the previous principles.

AI is a very potent tool for human beings and beyond, but should be used in a very careful manner.

Feelenials adheres to the OECDs principles as we believe emotion AI is a very potent tool for human beings and beyond, but should be used in a very careful manner. Such technologies must comply with all laws, including those that protect civil rights. We require our customers to also use our products responsibly. Moreover, the end users must be taken into consideration and the privacy of their data protected, this requires amongst other things obtaining consent, being transparent, treating data obtained responsibly and using it for the benefit of the users. It is important to remember that when we are creating relationships with human beings we show respect, thus if we are going to use a tool to better understand human beings in complex settings the same must be done- with respect.
